Indianapolis Canal Walk Engagement Session

I drove down to the Indianapolis, praying that the rain would hold off for Megan and Jon’s engagement photos. We already postponed once, and Megan was looking forward to getting these done to use in their Save the Dates. Although it was overcast, we did luck out with warm, decently bright weather and not too many people crowding around the Canal Walk.
Megan and I met at Ball State University, sharing classes in our Visual Communication major. I’ve followed her creative Instagram account @mjhdesigns and have witnessed her beautiful lettering art grow and evolve. So, I was pretty ecstatic when she messaged me about photographing her wedding day <3
This engagement photo session was my first time meeting Megan’s fiance, Jon. These two have a laid back but silly relationship personality, and I love how they make each other laugh. Starbucks brought them together when Jon transferred from the Seattle location to the store where Megan was working, and they haven’t looked back since! [I like to refer to their story as “Starbucks lovers”… like “star-crossed lovers,” except with a happier ending, hah! Either way, they were destined to be together!] They are both strong in their faith, love playing all types of games, and cheering on local sports teams. They’re creative and quirky, and I love them as a couple!
We started their session walking along the river, then ventured to this gorrrrgeous willow tree where we took some of my favorite photos of the day! Next, we found some artwork that complimented their casual outfits perfectly and finished off with a walk over to Victory Field, home of the Indianapolis Indians baseball team. #rolltribe [I have a special place in my heart for couples who share a love of sports, especially in the baseball and softball world 🙂 ]
